Sr Engineer CMF (12m contract)

Your ‘day to day’ You will work as a 12 months’ fixed term contractor to support Philip Morris Electronics Shenzhen office. (PMES). PMES operates as a subsidiary of Philip Morris International, Inc. You may be required to be engaged by a 3rd party service provider to be assigned to work at PMES. Responsibilities: • Facilitate the translation of short and long term Color, Material and Finish (CMF) strategies into actionable technology programs, product implementation and industrialization projects. • Contribute to the development of the innovation ideas, technology & sustainability Deliver technical expertise on CMF development to support the roadmap of our devices development. • Drive the planning of product development activities for CMF projects in collaboration with different stakeholders. • Supervise CMF detailed design and creation of technical specifications for our devices in collaboration with internal and external partners. • Supervise CMF validation testing of products and components in collaboration with design verification team and external partners. • Interact with and build effective relationships with external parties which are mandated for our devices development and manufacturing. • Support and assess CMF manufacturing suppliers as well as develop practices and processes in collaboration with them to best support the needs of development projects. • Support processes and tools improvement dedicated to the development of our devices. • Respect company Compliance Policies, standards and laws and ensure that external partners respect them as well. Ensure the protection of information of a confidential nature at any time. • Implement & conduct innovation ideas for product, lead or support new CMF technology projects to enable products and our products diversity, inclusivity, sustainability and customization; • Technical competence creative CMF engineering design in the early phase of product concept with design, marketing, operation and other engineers. Synthesize and present data and ideas logically. • Researching consumer lifestyle and design trends, cross-referencing inspiration from e-cigarette & fashion & beauty, furniture and home accessories, automotive, music culture, Fine Art and Digital Media. • Building CMF engineering strategies that connect consumer lifestyle trends with material. Technologies and CMF engineering concepts, Creating artwork and material samples to illustrate the CMF engineering strategy. • Technical lead for design engineering and manufacturing personnel to develop and improve finishing processes. • Perform technical reviews and provide input for paint material, finishing, corrosion, UV protection, anodize, PVD, plating requirements for new product requirement. • Partner with product marketing/ Industrial Design/ME/CMF engineer, perform CMF engineering design of new products, DFM / CMF CTQ / Datasheet / GD&T / SPC / • DOE / engineer study trial and qualification; • Familiar to CMF related reliability test, able to provide solution for test failures. Who we’re looking for Desired Qualifications: • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Material Science, Industrial Design, Chemical engineering, and other related fields. Ph.D. or Master degree preferred. • 10 years design/engineering experience in a multinational corporation in the consumer electronics industry. • Experience of working in a cross-functional and cross-culture environment. • Experience in manufacturing and decoration processes of plastics, metals, ceramics, leather and textiles. • Experience in working with global manufacturing suppliers and high volume products. • Experience in managing/collaboration with external development partners. • Experience of managing development projects is a plus. • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English is a must, and Cantonese/Mandarin a clear plus. • Has an open and enquiring mind with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from other disciplines • Creative individual, able to work independently whilst being a core team member • Able to challenge peers and direct management. • Structured approach to rationalize and develop process, tools and resources from both internal and external partners. • Experimental approach mindset, oriented to quality of results with technical decisions taken on the basis of objective data • Good understanding of component suppliers and their collaborations with electronics manufacturing service companies. • Experience working with ODM business partners is a plus.
