Your ‘day to day’ You will work as a 12 months’ fixed term contractor to support Philip Morris Electronics Shenzhen office. (PMES). PMES operates as a subsidiary of Philip Morris International, Inc. You may be required to be engaged by a 3rd party service provider to be assigned to work at PMES. • Responsibilities: • Mechanical engineer will be responsible for the development of innovative, cost effective, electromechanical design solutions for our devices. • Candidate will accomplish his duties with in-house teams, and/or with ODM/JDM partners, vendors, and contract manufacturers locally and throughout the world. • Job duties will include execution and/or overseeing of the following: - Communication and negotiation of critical design details/issues/solutions/status to appropriate teams globally. - Manage, review, and provide guidance on ODM mechanical design, thermal design, sealing design, and industrial design. Ensure design meets PMI engineering, quality, cost, and production requirements. - Work with ODM and vendors: - Review quotes for part/tooling cost and schedule from mechanical design perspective and provide technical support to team to achieve the cost target. - Review designs for appropriate use of material, processes, finishes, tolerances to achieve design, cost, and schedule targets. - Root-cause analysis and corrective action - DFA, DFM, FEA - review results and manage action items. - Provide technical guidance / solutions as required - Develop or check system, board, and component level models. Provide mechanical design support to PCB layout and perform 3D modeling verification. - Provide mechanical design support for system cooling, including heat sink, air mover, gap material, EMI shielding, tolerance analysis, etc. - Creation and documentation of electromechanical design requirements, from feasibility study to critical design detail - Development, implementation and integration of mechanical design solutions across technical disciplines from concept to production, per the development schedule and optimized to meet all design requirements - Creation of budget estimation for part cost, tooling, resources, and product development schedule for assigned efforts Who we’re looking for Desired Qualifications: • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Material Science, Industrial Design, Chemical engineering, and other related fields. Ph.D. or Master degree preferred. • BSME/MSME with 5+ years’ experience in mechanical/thermal design Proficient in English and Chinese oral and written language. • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, and cross-functional (internal and external) • Proficient skill with MCAD/MCAE 3D modeling and analysis tools; Solid works, Pro/E preferred • Strong background in electromechanical development and overall product and system design processes. • depth design experience with sheet metal, extrusion, and plastic part design, soft/hard tooling • Strong understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM), especially manufacturing/fabrication of sheet metal, die-cast, plastic, extrusion, high volume tooling, and electronics assembly processes. • Comprehensive knowledge of thermal design, EMC, safety and compliance requirements What we offer Our success depends on the talents who come to work every single day with a sense of purpose and an appetite for progress.
