THE ROLE The Lead for External Relations will play a pivotal role in the execution of communication and public relations strategies aimed at safeguarding and elevating Philip Morris's reputation and presence in Japan. This lead position requires media relations expertise and a well-established network within Japanese media circles. Key responsibilities include: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. • Development and implementation of comprehensive media pitches and narratives in collaboration with stakeholders, focusing on PMI and PMJ's transformation, scientific advancements, and other critical themes. • Directing the execution of an external relations strategy aligned with PMI and PMJ's business and communication objectives. • Crafting and delivering distinctive stories about the company using both traditional and emerging media platforms, effectively conveying compelling messages to stakeholders. • Managing and curating an up-to-date media contact database while crafting media pitches tailored to PMJ's key themes. • Help manage crisis management efforts to minimize the impact on the company's reputation during challenging situations. • Identifying and capitalizing on speaking opportunities for PMJ leaders. • Analyzing and reporting on the effectiveness of external relations programs. • In addition to these core responsibilities, the Lead will support in budget management. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional seeking to make a significant impact on external relations strategies and team development. Skills and Competencies • Master or bachelor’s degree. • 5-7 years’ experience with proven records in Communications, External Relations, Journalism. • Experience of working in global organizations and cross functions • Fluent in written and spoken English and Japanese. • Experience working across multiple levels and functions • Ability to work at all levels of the organization • Proactive and ability to work well with diverse, cross-functional teams • Strong interpersonal skills, • Excellent oral and written communications skills in both Japanese and English WHAT WE OFFER Our success depends on the men and women who come to work every single day with a sense of purpose and an appetite for progress.
