Welcome to Tabaqueira, Philip Morris International's affiliate in Portugal. We are the largest tobacco company in Portugal.

PMI first established a subsidiary in Portugal in the early 1980s. This quickly evolved into a partnership with Tabaqueira, which was state owned at the time, to begin manufacturing Marlboro. The relationship between the two companies continued to grow, and, in 1996, PMI was the main company in a consortium that bought Tabaqueira.

Tabaqueira’s factory, in the Sintra municipality is one PMI's largest production facilities in the EU region, and it is also one of the country's largest export companies, shipping its products to more than 30 countries.

We are proud of the talent of our employees and in our leading portfolio of national and international brands that we produce and sell in Portugal, including the number-one selling international cigarette brand, Marlboro, as well at the top-selling Portuguese brand SG.

Also, having launched IQOS and Heets (heated tobacco) in Portugal, Tabaqueira is contributing to build PMI’s future on smoke-free products that are a much better choice than cigarette smoking.
